Game Packs

Game-specific profiles that bundle capture settings, glossaries, custom prompts, and vocabulary stats into one shareable package.

What's in a Game Pack?

  • Game metadata — title, display name, genre, process name
  • Language pair — source and target language
  • Capture settings — mode (region/cursor), dimensions, offset
  • Glossary — game-specific term dictionary with categories
  • Custom prompts — per-pack translation, Image Recognition, dictionary, and grammar prompts
  • Word frequency — how often each word appears in the game
  • Vocabulary coverage — percentage of game words you've learned
  • Blacklist — words excluded from auto-save

Glossary

Each Game Pack has a glossary of game-specific terms. These are injected into translation prompts to improve accuracy for proper nouns, items, and skills.

Categories:

  • Character
  • Location
  • Item
  • Skill
  • Game Term
  • (Uncategorized)

Glossary entries can be added manually, imported from a file, or built with the AI Assistant (MCP).

Pack Management

Lite: Up to 3 packs. Standard: Unlimited — create, edit, duplicate, delete, and share.

  • Create — start a new pack for any game
  • Edit — modify settings, glossary, and prompts
  • Duplicate — clone an existing pack as a starting point
  • Delete — remove a pack and its associated data

Custom Prompts

Each pack can override the default prompts used for translation. This lets you tailor the AI's behavior per game — for example, instructing it to use specific terminology or tone.

Prompt types:

  • Translation — OCR text translation prompt
  • Image Recognition — vision mode prompt
  • Dictionary — word lookup prompt
  • Grammar — grammar analysis prompt

Variables like {from_lang}, {to_lang}, {context} are auto-substituted at runtime.

Export & Import (.playto-pack)

Export your Game Pack as a .playto-pack file (JSON format) and share it with other players.

Export includes: game metadata, language pair, full glossary, capture settings, and contributor name.

Import: Load a .playto-pack file to get another player's glossary and settings. You can choose to import glossary only or the full profile.

Community Sharing

Share your Game Packs with the community. When someone builds a comprehensive glossary for a game, everyone playing that game benefits from more accurate translations.

How it works:

  • Export your pack as a .playto-pack file
  • Share it on Discord, Reddit, or any community
  • Other players import it — glossary terms merge with their existing pack
  • Duplicate terms are automatically handled

Merging: When importing a pack that overlaps with your existing glossary, new terms are added and existing terms are preserved. No data is overwritten.
